Mogherini says Gazprom must fulfill supply obligations to Ukraine

KIEV, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom must fulfill its obligations to supply gas to Ukraine and the European Commission is working in that direction, E.U. foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said at a briefing on Monday.

She said that the European Commission had discussed Gazprom’s cessation of gas supplies for which a pre-payment was made. From its point of view, Gazprom must fulfill its obligations entirely, and the European Commission represented by Vice President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic, is doing its best to settle the situation.

Gazprom said earlier in March that the company had sent payment from Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy for March gas supplies back and would not start the shipments because a supplementary agreement to the contract was not coordinated.
